this wee doll here is mine, well it was mine until marta spied it the other day. and now they never leave each others side. they lounge around in the beanbag together, go for drives in the car together and snuggle up in bed together. hum as marta keeps reminding me, sharing is fun... however dolly, not used to so much affection burst out of her tummy stitching. so minor surgery was required and i must say what i thought would be a simple process ended up being a little wackier than i ever imagined. there i was stitching, with marta almost sitting in my lap breathing heavily and asking if i was being careful...not once but a few times, by now even i was feeling a little concerned for dollys welfare... marta encouraged dolly not to wriggle and said well done to both me and dolly as she race off to get the scissors to trim the thread. hum the places you go
here is also a pair of overalls i stitched a few months ago and finally put the buttons on last week.....i think she looks quite dapper.
its been going on for a week now, nanna comes by at bed time and nara and i dash into the night to plaster and paint yet another room, were tired but we are half way there.
there is something i love about putting on my painting clothes, and loosing myself in layers of paint.
its freezing in melbourne, but once we get those rollers out we are toasty in no time at all. friends have been helping with painting, it takes me back to share house living, listening to the radio, chatting and being up way past 10pm, im feeling so rock and roll.........
now here is a treat Loretta Lux her work is beautiful
weve been making jelly fish out of toilet rolls, actually we have been making them for months.... whenever there is an empty roll laying around on the toilet floor all marta can see is its jelly fish potential.... we have tried caterpillers but they simply dont cut it. and i must say this is only a quarter of our jelly fish loot.
and yes more toys straight from the recycling bin..... as a kid i would spend whole days walking around on my tin can stilts. our tins are 800g tomatoe tins, when i was a kid im sure it was tin peaches....hummmtin something, infact it wasnt until i left home that i realised that asparagus was a fresh food ....
im feeling very popular since the bute news of being a part of MORPHE ll my blog has shifted from 3 comments for the last two months to lots...thanks its very lovely.
well since the news about morphe its been head down and bum up. ive been cutting stitching and cutting some more. its exciting and i travel well under pressure....love a dead line.
we are also about to move house, we are packing up the children and the chickens and are moving closer to the city. the house is huge and dirt cheap which also means we will be busy plastering and painting before we move in. i must say it all feels a little overwhelming but im going to meet the challenge.
here is a photo of a rag doll i made for a childrens boutique in melbourne, mill and mia. the dolls socks are made with the stores fabric.
